The 17th King of Rohan, and the last of his line, King Theoden was withered under a spell of Saruman, through the evil counsels of Grima Wormtongue. Revived by Gandalf he rode to Gondor, and fought valiantly in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. After being thrown from his horse, Theoden soon perished.
